FAQs

What is corrective exercise and why is it important to me?

Our bodies are professional pattern-holders. Due to the demands of our lifestyles, habits, and the rigid rules of gravity itself, our skeletal, muscular, and soft tissue systems become locked into maladaptive patterns due to improper movement habits and untrained posture. The resulting compromises in mobility lead to joint dysfunction and inefficient movement that causes pain and leads to significant wear and tear.

Corrective exercise is the key to uncovering the origins of these issues, while employing practices to keep our soft tissues healthier for the long haul.

What is a one-on-one corrective exercise session versus a group training session?

For family/group training packages, each member in the program will meet with me in person for targeted focus on their specific mobility and corrective movements.

Group training sessions are focused on implementing the practices learned in our one-on-one sessions. Group sessions are built around functional strength regimens. Break a sweat with your work group, your significant other, or your whole family.

Why does every plan have a three-month minimum?

As much as we would like it to be the case, change is not instantaneous, particularly when it comes to our bodies. Beyond the often painstaking nature of developing proper neuromuscular coordination, research indicates that any new habit takes three to six months to properly integrate into our lives. Though the literature suggests the higher end of that range, I chose three months to give clients the flexibility to continue on if the program aligns with their aims, or to move on if they feel it necessary. So far, this has not come into play.
